Cover Letter
Wayne Enterprises Letterhead • Gotham City, NJ
Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Senior Partner position at your venture capital firm. As the CEO of Wayne Enterprises, a $31.3 billion conglomerate, I bring a unique combination of operational experience, capital markets expertise, and the ability to appear and disappear from rooms without anyone noticing.
My passion for Gotham's startup ecosystem is deeply personal. I have watched this city fall and rise more times than I can count. I have personally intervened in situations where the market was failing — sometimes with capital, sometimes with other resources. I believe that venture capital is the most effective way to build a city's future, second only to physically preventing its destruction on a quarterly basis.
I am particularly drawn to investments in defense technology, urban infrastructure, mental health services (Arkham is criminally underfunded — no pun intended), and wearable technology. I have extensive personal experience with all of these verticals.
My investment thesis is simple: find founders who are willing to fight for their vision, back them with unlimited capital and cutting-edge technology, and check in on them regularly (primarily between midnight and 4 AM).
I should note that my schedule is unconventional. I am most productive after sunset and prefer meetings on rooftops. I do not use Zoom. If you need to reach me urgently, please shine a large light into the sky. My assistant Alfred will confirm all appointments.
I look forward to discussing how I can bring my unique perspective — and my considerable resources — to your firm.
Respectfully,
Bruce Wayne
P.S. — I already know everything about your firm. I did my own due diligence. You passed. Barely.
LinkedIn Endorsements & Recommendations
Alfred Pennyworth
Chief of Staff, Wayne ManorHas worked with Bruce for 30+ years
"Master Wayne is, without question, the most dedicated professional I have ever served. He routinely works 18-hour days — though I confess the hours are unconventional. His commitment to Gotham's startup ecosystem is matched only by his commitment to never explaining where he goes at night. I have endorsed him for every skill on LinkedIn, including several I had to create."
Lucius Fox
CTO, Wayne EnterprisesColleague and R&D partner
"Bruce has an extraordinary talent for identifying promising technologies and immediately classifying them. He'll walk into my lab, point at a prototype, and say 'I need 50 of those by Thursday.' No questions. No budget review. Just conviction. In venture capital, that kind of decisiveness is either visionary or insane. With Bruce, it's somehow both."
Commissioner James Gordon
Commissioner, Gotham City Police DepartmentProfessional contact (rooftop meetings only)
"I've worked with Bruce Wayne in a... professional capacity for many years. He has an unparalleled ability to show up at the exact moment a situation requires intervention, deliver results, and disappear before anyone can ask follow-up questions. In my experience, this is exactly what venture capitalists do."
Interview Transcript
Conducted at Wayne Tower, 67th floor. Interviewee arrived 3 minutes late through a window. Conference room was locked from the inside.
Q: Tell us about your investment philosophy.
Bruce Wayne: I believe in Gotham. I believe in the people who build here. I believe that every startup deserves a chance — and a comprehensive background check, forensic accounting review, and 24/7 surveillance for the first 90 days. Standard due diligence.
Q: What's your approach to deal sourcing?
Bruce Wayne: I patrol. Every night, I'm out there — rooftops, alleyways, networking events. I see things other investors miss because I'm looking where they aren't. Most VCs source deals from warm intros. I source deals from the shadows.
Q: Can you describe a time you turned around a struggling portfolio company?
Bruce Wayne: Gotham itself. When I started, the city was overrun with corruption, crime, and a municipal bond rating that would make Detroit blush. Today, property values in the financial district are up 340%. Granted, the crime is still there. But the property values.
Q: What do you look for in a founding team?
Bruce Wayne: Integrity. Resilience. A willingness to operate in morally grey areas without crossing into outright villainy. Also, no clowns. That's a hard rule.
Q: How do you handle conflict with co-investors?
Bruce Wayne: [Long pause. Stares.] I have... methods. Let's just say I've never lost a board vote.
Q: What do you do after hours?
Bruce Wayne: [Very long pause.] Philanthropy.
Q: You seem to have disappeared for about 20 minutes during this interview. Where did you go?
Bruce Wayne: I was always here. [Is clearly wearing a different shirt than when the interview started.]
Q: One last question — why venture capital? Why not just keep running Wayne Enterprises?
Bruce Wayne: Wayne Enterprises is my day job. Venture capital is... let's call it my night job. I've always believed in funding the people who are willing to fight for something bigger than themselves. Ideally between 10 PM and 5 AM.
Letter of Recommendation
From: Alfred J. Pennyworth • Wayne Manor, Bristol Township
To the Partners of [FIRM NAME REDACTED],
I have known Master Wayne since the day he was born. I have watched him grow from a frightened boy into the most extraordinary man I have ever known. I have also watched him jump off buildings voluntarily, which, while impressive, has done nothing for my blood pressure.
Bruce Wayne is not merely a businessman. He is a force of nature with a corporate credit card. His capacity for work is inhuman — and I mean that in the most literal sense. I have seen him attend a 9 AM board meeting having not slept in three days, deliver a flawless quarterly presentation, and then excuse himself to "take a call" that involved hanging someone off the side of a building.
His commitment to Gotham is beyond question. He has poured billions into this city — through Wayne Enterprises, through the Wayne Foundation, and through methods I am contractually and emotionally unable to discuss.
If you are looking for an investor who will dedicate himself completely to your firm, who will work hours that would violate labor laws in most countries, and who will bring resources that defy rational explanation — Bruce is your man.
He is also, I should mention, quite good at returning phone calls. Eventually. Usually between 5 and 6 AM, when he has just gotten home from... philanthropy.
With the deepest respect and a lifetime of worry,
Alfred J. Pennyworth
P.S. — Please do not ask him about his parents. Just... don't.
"It's not about the money. It's about sending a message. Actually, in venture capital, it is about the money. But also the message. The message is: I'm Batman."
