The Review

Atlanta is the most artistically uncompromising show of the streaming era. Donald Glover created a show that defies categorization — it is simultaneously a comedy about the Atlanta rap scene, a surrealist horror anthology, a meditation on race and capitalism, and a showcase for some of the most daring filmmaking on television. Every episode operates by its own internal logic. 'Teddy Perkins' is one of the most disturbing and brilliant episodes in television history. The show refuses to explain itself, refuses to repeat itself, and refuses to be what anyone expects it to be. Atlanta is television as art installation.

Fun Fact

Donald Glover directed and wrote the 'Teddy Perkins' episode himself, and also played the title character in full prosthetic makeup — a fact that was kept secret until after the episode aired.
