Top 50 Things to Do in Miami Beach
This is not a tourist brochure. It's a ranked, personal guide from someone who lives here. Every activity on this list is something I've done, and most of them I do regularly.
The Top 10
These are the ten things I'd tell anyone visiting or moving to Miami Beach to do first.
Kiteboarding at Crandon Park
Water SportsGlen's FavoriteCrandon Park, Key Biscayne — 10/10
Flat water, consistent trade winds, Miami skyline behind you. The best thing you can do in this city.
There is nothing that compares to being pulled across Biscayne Bay at 25 knots with the downtown Miami skyline rising behind you. Crandon Park has flat, shallow water that is perfect for learning and perfect for boosting. The kiteboarding community here is tight-knit, the wind is reliable from November through May, and the water temperature rarely drops below 75 degrees. Chris Bobryk leads the community and the fight to keep the park open for riders. If you do one thing in Miami, make it this.
Sunrise at South Pointe Park
BeachGlen's FavoriteSouth of Fifth — 10/10
Watch cruise ships glide through Government Cut while the sun rises over the Atlantic. Best free show in Miami.
South Pointe Park is the southernmost tip of Miami Beach, and it is quietly one of the most beautiful places in Florida. You get unobstructed views of Government Cut, Fisher Island, and the Atlantic. Cruise ships pass so close you could almost touch them. The sunrise here is extraordinary. Come early, bring coffee, and watch the sky turn orange over the water. It never gets old.
Run the Boardwalk
FitnessGlen's FavoriteSouth Pointe to North Beach — 10/10
8+ miles of oceanfront running path. Raven has done it every day for 50 years. You can do it once.
The Miami Beach Boardwalk stretches from South Pointe Park all the way up to North Beach. It is over 8 miles of oceanfront path, and it is the single best running route in South Florida. Robert 'Raven' Kraft has run this route every single day since January 1, 1975. The stretch through Mid-Beach and past the Faena District is the most scenic. Early morning or sunset are the best times. Bring water.
Joe's Stone Crab
FoodGlen's FavoriteSouth Beach, 11 Washington Ave — 10/10
Open since 1913. The stone crabs are legendary, but the creamed spinach steals the show.
Joe's Stone Crab has been a Miami Beach institution since 1913. The stone crabs are the draw, but the entire experience is what makes it legendary. The creamed spinach, the key lime pie, the old-school waiters who have been there for decades. You will wait. It is always worth it. The takeaway line moves faster if you are in a rush. Every local has their own Joe's ritual.
Art Deco Historic District Walking Tour
CultureGlen's FavoriteOcean Drive & Collins Ave, South Beach — 9/10
800+ Art Deco buildings from the 1920s-40s. The largest collection in the world.
The Miami Beach Art Deco Historic District is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. Over 800 buildings line Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and the surrounding streets. The Miami Design Preservation League offers guided walking tours, but you can do it on your own. The pastel facades, porthole windows, and neon signs are iconic for a reason. Early morning is best before the crowds arrive. This is what makes Miami Beach visually unlike any other city.
eFoiling on Biscayne Bay
Water SportsGlen's FavoriteBiscayne Bay / Virginia Key — 9/10
Electric hydrofoil surfing. No wind needed. You fly above the water on a silent motor.
eFoils are electric hydrofoil boards that let you fly above the water with no wind, no waves, and no noise. You stand on a surfboard-shaped craft with an electric motor and hydrofoil underneath. Once you get up to speed, you lift off the surface and glide silently a foot above the water. Biscayne Bay on a calm morning is the perfect playground. It feels like the future of water sports.
Sunset at Sunset Harbour
NatureGlen's FavoriteSunset Harbour, Mid-Beach — 9/10
Watch the sun drop behind the Miami skyline from the bay side. The name is not an accident.
Sunset Harbour faces west across Biscayne Bay toward downtown Miami, and the sunsets are spectacular. The sky turns pink, orange, and purple behind the Miami skyline. Grab coffee from Panther Coffee or dinner at one of the restaurants and watch the show. This is the bay side of Miami Beach that most tourists never see, and it is where the locals spend their evenings.
Lincoln Road Mall
CultureGlen's FavoriteLincoln Road, South Beach — 9/10
Pedestrian-only boulevard. Restaurants, galleries, people-watching. The living room of Miami Beach.
Lincoln Road is a ten-block pedestrian mall that runs from the Atlantic to the bay. It is the social hub of Miami Beach. Restaurants, art galleries, retail, and some of the best people-watching in the world. Sunday mornings have a farmers market. The architecture mixes Art Deco with mid-century modern. It is where locals and tourists coexist, and somehow it works. Sit down, order a drink, and watch the parade.
Art Basel Miami Beach
CultureGlen's FavoriteMiami Beach Convention Center & citywide — 9/10
Every December, the entire island transforms into an open-air gallery. The energy is electric.
Art Basel Miami Beach is the largest art fair in the Americas, held every December. The main fair is at the Convention Center, but the entire city becomes a canvas. Wynwood Walls, Design District pop-ups, private collections opening their doors, gallery parties, and installations on the beach. For one week, Miami Beach becomes the art capital of the world. You do not have to be an art collector to enjoy it. Just walk around and take it in.
Panther Coffee
FoodGlen's FavoriteSunset Harbour — 9/10
The best coffee on the island. No debate. The Sunset Harbour location is the original.
Panther Coffee roasts their own beans in Wynwood and the Sunset Harbour location is where Miami Beach comes to life every morning. The cold brew is the move, but the pour-overs are excellent. This is where remote workers set up shop, where local entrepreneurs meet, and where you can sit outside on a perfect morning and feel grateful you live on this island. It is not just a coffee shop, it is a community anchor.
