Two bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio walk into the Tank with a wooden aircraft, twelve seconds of flight data, and the audacious claim that people will one day pay to fly across the ocean.

Walking In

[The elevator doors open. WILBUR WRIGHT and ORVILLE WRIGHT walk out carrying a 1/10th scale model of the Wright Flyer. They are wearing matching suits, bowler hats, and the quiet dignity of men who just achieved the impossible and have told almost no one. They look like accountants who accidentally changed the world.]

[They carry the model between them with extreme care, as if it is made of dreams and balsa wood. Because it is.]

Wilbur: "Are you ready, Orv?"

Orville: "I was ready at Kitty Hawk. This is just talking."

The Pitch

Wilbur: "Sharks. My name is Wilbur Wright. This is my brother Orville. We own a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio."

[Kevin already looks bored.]

Orville: "On December 17th, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, we achieved powered, controlled, heavier-than-air human flight."

[Kevin is no longer bored.]

Wilbur: "We flew for 12 seconds. We covered 120 feet. We are asking for $200,000 for 15% of the Wright Company."

Mark Cuban: "Wait. You FLEW? Like, off the ground? In the air?"

Orville: "Yes."

Mark: "For how long?"

Wilbur: "Twelve seconds."

[Long pause.]

Mark: "...Twelve seconds."

Orville: "It was the FIRST twelve seconds."

Shark Reactions

Kevin O'Leary

"Gentlemen, I appreciate the engineering. But what's the revenue model? How do you make money from 12 seconds of flight?"

Wilbur: "People will pay to fly."

"For 12 seconds?"

Orville: "We're scaling."

"Scaling FROM 12 seconds? What's your 5-year projection? Thirty seconds?"

Wilbur: "By our fourth flight that same day, we reached 59 seconds and 852 feet. That's a 392% improvement in a single afternoon. Show me another startup with those metrics."

[Kevin pulls out his calculator. The math checks out. He is visibly confused by this.]

Daymond John

"Guys, I respect the hustle. You built this in a bicycle shop. I built FUBU in my mom's house. But here's my concern — what's the addressable market? Who is going to pay to sit in a wooden contraption held together by bicycle parts and fly 10 feet off the ground for less than a minute?"

Orville: "Daymond, one day, people will fly from New York to London in seven hours. There will be hundreds of passengers on a single aircraft. They will serve meals. There will be a bathroom. People will complain about the legroom."

[The Sharks look at each other.]

"...People will complain about the legroom?"

Wilbur: "They will complain about everything. But they will pay. Because the alternative is a boat that takes two weeks."

Lori Greiner

"Wait. If people are going to fly places — they're going to need LUGGAGE. Portable, lightweight luggage designed for air travel. Bags with wheels. Carry-on sizes. Overhead compartments. This isn't just a flight company — this is a LUGGAGE opportunity."

[The Wright Brothers look at each other, confused.]

Wilbur: "We... hadn't thought about luggage."

"Of course you hadn't. You're engineers. I'm a PRODUCT person. I see the accessories. The adjacent markets. The QVC segment: 'Travel Like You Fly.' Boys, I want in."

Robert Herjavec

"Guys, this is either the craziest thing I've ever seen or the most important invention since the wheel. Two bicycle mechanics just solved a problem that has haunted humanity for 5,000 years. I don't understand the physics. I don't know the market. But I know genius when I see it. And I see two geniuses in bowler hats."

The Negotiation

Kevin: "I want a royalty. $50 per flight until I make back 5x. I'm investing in 12 seconds of proof-of-concept. I need protection."

Orville: "Kevin, there will eventually be 100,000 flights per DAY. That royalty would bankrupt the entire aviation industry."

Kevin: "100,000 flights per day? You flew for TWELVE SECONDS."

Wilbur: "And before us, it was ZERO seconds. Progress, Kevin."

Lori: "Boys. Forget Kevin. Here's my offer: $200,000 for 15%, exactly what you asked. I want the flight company AND the luggage licensing rights. I will build the travel accessories brand. You build the planes. Together, we own the entire travel experience."

[Wilbur and Orville whisper to each other for approximately three seconds. They have been making decisions together their entire lives. They don't need long.]

Wilbur: "Deal."

[They shake hands. Lori is already sketching carry-on bag designs on a napkin.]

Post-Show Update

The Wright Brothers went on to build aircraft that could fly for hours, not seconds. The aviation industry they created is now worth $838 billion annually. Lori's 15% stake would make her the wealthiest person on Earth if she had held it.

Lori's "Travel Like You Fly" luggage line launched on QVC and sold out in 11 minutes. Rolling carry-on suitcases became the best-selling travel product of the 20th century. Lori credits the Wright Brothers for "inventing flight, but more importantly, inventing the NEED for good luggage."

Kevin O'Leary's $50-per-flight royalty proposal would have generated approximately $1.8 billion per year at current flight volumes. He brings this up at every Shark Tank reunion. "They said 12 seconds. I said royalty. I was RIGHT."

Orville's prediction about legroom complaints came true. Modern airline passengers rate legroom as their #1 complaint. The Wright Brothers could not have predicted Spirit Airlines, but the universe is cruel.

Wilbur's final words to the camera: "If we worked on the assumption that what is accepted as true really is true, then there would be little hope for advance. Also, 12 seconds was just the beginning. You're welcome."
