Personal Note

Why I Care About This

I was a programmer on Penn Robotics Team 135. That experience — writing code that makes a 120-pound robot move on a competition field — is where I learned that programming isn't abstract. It has consequences. Real ones.

Every single team on this page represents dozens of students who spent six weeks designing, building, and programming a robot from scratch. They fundraised. They learned CAD. They debugged motor controllers at 2am. And now they're competing at Penn High School.

These are the future engineers, programmers, and business leaders. Every team deserves recognition.

What Is FIRST Robotics?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by Dean Kamen in 1989. The FIRST Robotics Competition gives high school teams six weeks to design, build, and program industrial-size robots, then compete in regional and championship events.

The FIN District is Indiana's FIRST district, organizing events across the state that qualify teams for the FIRST Indiana State Championship and ultimately the FIRST Championship.

Every team on this page is proof that STEM education works best when students get to build real things.
