Education Philosophy
What 15 years as a teacher, administrator, state official, and EdTech leader taught Bill Bradford about what actually works in K-12 education — and why he chose Teacher Created Materials.
The Core Belief
The best educational outcomes happen when the right materials are matched with the right teachers in the right context. No single product works everywhere. No mandate replaces good teaching. And no sales consultant should recommend something they wouldn't use in their own classroom. Bill has had a classroom. That's the difference.
What Each Role Taught Him
5 perspectives, 1 philosophy
As a Teacher (2010-2014)
“Materials matter more than mandates”
Four years teaching Language Arts showed Bill that the difference between a good lesson and a great one often comes down to the materials. Not the state standard. Not the pacing guide. The actual book, workbook, or resource in the student's hands. When the material is engaging and well-designed, students learn. When it's not, even the best teacher is fighting uphill.
As an Administrator (2014-2017)
“Teachers need support, not more requirements”
As Athletic Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Instructional Team Leader, Bill saw what happens when teachers are overwhelmed with mandates and starved of resources. The best school leaders remove obstacles, provide the right tools, and get out of the way. Professional development should solve real problems, not check compliance boxes.
At the State Level (2017-2019)
“Federal money works when implementation is local”
Reviewing federal education grants at the Indiana DOE taught Bill that funding alone doesn't improve outcomes — implementation does. The districts that succeed are the ones that match federal dollars to specific, local needs rather than buying whatever's cheapest or most popular. Bill learned to see education from 30,000 feet without losing sight of the classroom.
In EdTech (2021-2025)
“Technology is a tool, not a solution”
Nearly six years at Edmentum — from Education Consultant to Program Manager — showed Bill that the best EdTech serves teachers rather than replacing them. Digital curriculum works when it's aligned to what teachers are already doing. The platform that wins isn't the flashiest — it's the one teachers actually use. President's Club in year one came from understanding that.
At TCM (2025-Present)
“The right materials, matched to the right need, change outcomes”
Teacher Created Materials produces research-based curriculum designed by educators. Bill's job isn't to sell a catalog — it's to listen to what a school or district actually needs, understand their students, their standards, and their budget, and then match them with materials that will genuinely help. That's only possible because he's been the teacher choosing materials, the admin approving purchases, and the state official reviewing how the money is spent.
What Bill Brings to Every Conversation
Knows what materials actually get used in classrooms vs. what sits on shelves
Understands the purchasing process, budget constraints, and approval workflows
Knows federal funding rules, Title I/II/III requirements, and compliance standards
Understands implementation at scale — training, rollout, adoption, and measurement
Matches the right product to the right need, not the highest-margin item
Why Teacher Created Materials
After 15 years seeing education from every angle, Bill chose TCM. Here's why.
Research-Based
Every TCM product is grounded in educational research. Not just marketing copy — actual evidence of what drives student outcomes.
Created by Teachers
TCM materials are designed by educators who have been in the classroom. They're practical, not theoretical.
K-12 Breadth
From early literacy to secondary math intervention, TCM covers the full spectrum. Bill can help you find the right fit regardless of grade level or subject.
Biliteracy & ELL
TCM has deep expertise in biliteracy and English Language Learner materials — critical for schools with diverse student populations.
Professional Development
It's not just about the materials. TCM provides professional development to ensure teachers know how to use the resources effectively.
Supplemental & Core
Whether you need supplemental resources to fill gaps or core curriculum materials, TCM's portfolio covers both.
Rethinking Academic Intervention
Bill and the TCM team are passionate about reimagining academic intervention. What if intervention weren't a rigid schedule based on outdated measures — but an invitation to connect, explore, and grow? By blending real-world experiences with classroom learning, intervention becomes something students want to participate in, not something they're pulled out for.
If you're rethinking intervention at your school or district, Bill has the experience and the resources to help.
Ready to Talk Curriculum?
Whether you're a curriculum director, instructional coach, superintendent, or teacher leader — Bill will take the time to understand your specific needs before recommending anything. No pressure, just expertise.
