The Review

Fargo is the most successful film-to-television adaptation ever made. Noah Hawley took the Coen Brothers' tone — that precise mixture of Midwestern politeness, brutal violence, and existential absurdity — and expanded it into an anthology series where every season is a self-contained masterpiece. Season 1 with Billy Bob Thornton's Lorne Malvo is the greatest debut season since True Detective. Season 2 is even better. The show proves that you do not need recurring characters to build a franchise — you need a voice. Hawley's voice is unmistakable: darkly funny, morally serious, and endlessly surprising.

Fun Fact

Billy Bob Thornton's Lorne Malvo was originally written as a much smaller role, but Thornton's audition was so terrifying that the writers expanded the character significantly.
