The Review

Band of Brothers is the greatest war story ever told on screen. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks produced a ten-episode miniseries that follows Easy Company of the 101st Airborne from training at Camp Toccoa through D-Day, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of a concentration camp. The show treats every soldier as a fully realized human being. The Bastogne episode is the most harrowing hour of television ever made. The interviews with the real veterans that bookend each episode elevate the entire project from entertainment to monument. It cost $125 million and every dollar is on screen.

Fun Fact

The actors went through a real boot camp before filming, and several have said it was more physically demanding than anything they experienced during production.
