When the U.S. Supreme Court struck down PASPA in 2018 and legalized sports betting state by state, Sportradar was already positioned as the indispensable partner. They supply the data that powers DraftKings, FanDuel, and the majority of major sportsbooks globally. Their integrity services division monitors matches for signs of fixing and corruption across dozens of sports and hundreds of leagues — a function that has become critical as betting volumes have exploded.

The company went public on the Nasdaq in 2021, validating the thesis that sports data is not a niche technology product but critical infrastructure for a multi-hundred-billion-dollar global industry. Their partnerships span the NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, UEFA, and the ITF, among others.

Sportradar's market position is defensible because of the depth and breadth of their data relationships. Building a competing dataset from scratch would take years and billions of dollars. They have effectively become the Bloomberg Terminal of sports — the platform you cannot operate without if you are in the business of sports media, betting, or analytics.
