Four Lions

Four Lions is a comedy about suicide bombers, and it is hilarious. Chris Morris' feature debut follows four British jihadists so incompetent that they are more dangerous to themselves than to anyone else. Riz Ahmed's Omar is the only one with any intelligence, surrounded by idiots who blow themselves up accidentally, argue about which target is most ideologically pure, and cannot operate basic electronics. The film is a devastating satire of radicalization that treats its characters as human beings — stupid, misguided human beings — rather than monsters.
