Magic Johnson reinvented the point guard position and saved the NBA. When he entered the league in 1979 alongside Larry Bird, professional basketball was struggling with declining attendance, drug scandals, and network television indifference. At 6'9", Magic was the tallest point guard in NBA history and the most creative passer the game had ever seen.
