Karl Malone is the second-leading scorer in NBA history with 36,928 points, a number so large that only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James have ever surpassed it. The Mailman delivered — every single night, for 19 seasons, with a consistency that was almost mechanical in its reliability. He played in 1,476 regular-season games, missing a total of 10 games in his first 17 seasons with Utah. His durability alone is one of the great achievements in professional sports.

Malone's partnership with John Stockton — the NBA's all-time assists leader — formed the most productive pick-and-roll duo in basketball history. The Stockton-to-Malone connection was so reliable, so efficient, and so difficult to defend that teams spent years developing specific game plans just to slow it down. Malone's combination of power, mid-range shooting, and relentless conditioning made him one of the most physically imposing players of any era.

The championship drought is the asterisk on Malone's legacy.
