Triple Frontier

Triple Frontier assembles five former Special Forces operators (Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal) for a heist against a South American drug lord, then methodically deconstructs the heist film by showing how greed, poor planning, and the weight of literal cash destroy their brotherhood. J.C. Chandor’s direction prioritizes tension and moral complexity over spectacle — the helicopter overloaded with money that cannot clear the Andes is the film’s most memorable image and its central metaphor. The action is grounded and tactical, the performances are uniformly strong, and the film’s willingness to kill major characters gives every firefight genuine stakes.
