Tom Perkowitz
Salesforce Developer at Innovate! Inc. The developer who shipped reliable code for EPA and GSU. Technical contributor who made the team stronger by being someone you could always count on.
The Arc
Tom Perkowitz is a Salesforce developer who did his best work at Innovate! Inc. Not the flashiest kind of developer — the reliable kind. The kind who writes code that passes security review, runs in production without breaking, and does exactly what the requirements say it should do. In government Salesforce, that's the most valuable developer you can have.
At Innovate, Tom worked on EPA Salesforce implementations — OPPT, BMC, HSRAP, EAD — and GSU higher education projects. He was part of the development team alongside Josh Long and Glen Bradford, building the APEX and Lightning components that powered federal and university Salesforce applications. When the team needed someone who could pick up a complex story and deliver it without drama, Tom was that person.
He's one of the names in the Innovate constellation — part of the team that included Josh Long, Catherine Nolan, Jordon Schulman, Larry Spackman, Mark Filpus, Matt Brumberger, and Stacey Cogswell. Every person on that list mattered. Tom mattered.
Career Timeline
~2015
Salesforce Developer
Innovate! Inc.
Joined Innovate! as a Salesforce developer working on EPA program implementations. Started writing APEX, building Lightning components, and learning the complex data models that government Salesforce implementations require. Quickly became a reliable technical contributor on the team.
2015 - 2017
EPA Salesforce Development — OPPT & Related Programs
Innovate! Inc. / EPA
Developed Salesforce solutions for EPA program offices alongside Josh Long and Glen Bradford. Worked on OPPT Program Plan features, BMC system enhancements, and the integrations that connected EPA programs. Built the kind of code that passed government security review and kept running in production without drama.
2017 - 2019
Developer — HSRAP, EAD & Cross-Program Work
Innovate! Inc. / EPA
Expanded into HSRAP and EAD development work. Tom was one of the developers who could context-switch between EPA programs without losing track of the business logic in each one. When multiple programs needed development attention simultaneously, Tom was someone you could count on to deliver across all of them.
2019 - 2021
Developer — GSU & Higher Education
Innovate! Inc.
Contributed to Georgia State University Salesforce development. Brought his government development experience into higher education — understanding that different domains have different constraints, but good code is good code regardless of the sector.
Innovate! Inc. Era
Consistent Technical Contributor
EPA, GSU & Beyond
Part of the core development team at Innovate! alongside Josh Long, Glen Bradford, Mark Filpus, Matt Brumberger, and Stacey Cogswell. Tom was the kind of developer every team needs: reliable, thorough, and capable of handling whatever was thrown at him.
What Tom Brings
Salesforce Development
APEX, SOQL, Lightning components, VisualForce — Tom writes Salesforce code that works in production. Not demo code, not prototype code — production code that passes security review and runs reliably for government agencies.
EPA Government Implementations
Development experience across EPA Salesforce programs including OPPT, BMC, HSRAP, and EAD. Understands the data models, compliance requirements, and deployment processes unique to federal government systems.
Higher Education Salesforce
GSU development experience bringing government-grade reliability to higher education implementations. Different domain, same commitment to building things that work.
Multi-Program Development
The ability to work across multiple Salesforce programs simultaneously without confusing the business logic between them. A skill that sounds simple but is genuinely rare in practice.
Production Reliability
When you write code for federal agencies, it has to work. No excuses, no 'it works on my machine.' Tom built the kind of code that production environments demand — tested, documented, and reliable.
How I Know Tom
Innovate! Inc. — fellow developer on the EPA and GSU teams
Tom and I were both developers at Innovate! Inc. working on EPA and GSU Salesforce projects. When you're on a development team writing APEX for federal agencies, you learn fast who you can rely on. Tom was someone you could rely on. He picked up stories, built them right, and didn't need to be asked twice.
We shared sprint meetings, code reviews, deployment sessions, and the general grind of building Salesforce solutions for complex clients. Tom was in the trenches with the rest of us — alongside Josh Long, Mark Filpus, Matt Brumberger, Stacey Cogswell, Catherine Nolan, Larry Spackman, and the full Innovate crew.
Every team needs its reliable producers — the people who show up, do the work, and don't create drama. Tom was that person. Not every great developer is the one solving the midnight crisis. Some are the ones who prevent the crisis from happening in the first place by writing solid code consistently, sprint after sprint. That was Tom.
Why He Matters
In any team, the reliable developers are the backbone. They're not always the ones who get the headlines, but they're the ones who make the headlines possible. Tom was that for Innovate — a developer who consistently delivered quality work across EPA and GSU projects.
Innovate was great because every person on the team pulled their weight. Tom pulled his. And when you add up all the stories he built, all the features he shipped, and all the code he wrote that's still running in production somewhere — that's a body of work worth celebrating.
