Donald Bren is America's wealthiest real estate developer and the sole owner of the Irvine Company, one of the most valuable private real estate portfolios in the United States. His transformation of the Irvine Ranch — a historic 93,000-acre property in Orange County, California — into one of the most successful master-planned communities in the world stands as one of the greatest achievements in the history of American real estate development. Bren acquired a majority stake in the Irvine Company in 1983 and gradually bought out all other shareholders to become the sole owner.
